Fishin Frenzy Review 2026 — RTP, Free Spins & Max Win
Fishin Frenzy review: the classic Blueprint fishing slot with fisherman free spins, a 96% RTP and up to 5,000x wins. Gameplay, features and verdict.
Fishin Frenzy at a glance
Fishin Frenzy is one of the most-loved fishing slots ever made: a cheerful seaside game from Blueprint (now under Light & Wonder) where a bearded fisherman reels in cash-carrying fish during the free spins round. With 10 paylines, a 96% RTP at Moolzy and wins up to 5,000x your stake, this review covers how it plays, what the bonus round does, and why it remains a UK favourite more than a decade after launch.
Key facts
Provider: Light & Wonder (Blueprint). Type: video slot, 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 paylines. RTP: 96% at Moolzy. Volatility: medium-high. Max win: up to 5,000x your stake. Features: free spins round, fisherman wild that collects fish cash prizes, scatter symbols. Devices: plays in any mobile or desktop browser with no download, and a free demo is available at Moolzy.
How Fishin Frenzy plays
The base game is deliberately simple: ten fixed paylines, card royals for the small wins and themed symbols — fishing rods, tackle boxes, life rings and pelicans — for the bigger ones. The blue fish symbols carry cash values, but in the base game they only pay as ordinary line wins. The real action is reserved for the bonus round, which keeps the base game quick and easy to follow even for complete beginners.
Free spins and the fisherman
Three or more boat scatters trigger the free spins round — 10, 15 or 20 spins depending on how many scatters land. During free spins the fisherman symbol becomes a wild, and whenever he lands at the same time as fish symbols he reels them all in, collecting every cash value on screen at once. A screen full of fish plus a fisherman is the dream spin, and it is where the 5,000x max win comes from. The round cannot be retriggered, so every fisherman appearance matters.
RTP and volatility explained
At Moolzy, Fishin Frenzy runs at a 96% RTP — right on the industry average, which is fairer than many slots in the lobby. The medium-high volatility means the base game can feel quiet while you wait for the bonus: most of the game's value is concentrated in the free spins round, so expect stretches of smaller wins punctuated by the occasional big catch. For even fairer payout rates, check our best high-RTP slots list.
How it compares
If you enjoy the fishing theme, Big Bass Bonanza is the modern rival — it adds multipliers and retriggers to the same fish-collecting idea, though at a lower RTP setting. For something calmer, Starburst offers low-volatility little-and-often wins, while Wolf Gold Ultimate suits players who want a money-respin feature instead of free spins.
Tips before you play
Because the value sits in the bonus round, size your stake so your bankroll can survive the wait between free spins triggers — 100 spins or more without a bonus is normal at this volatility. The 96% RTP is fair, but the game still has a house edge, so set a loss limit before you start. Try the free demo first to see how the fisherman collection mechanic feels before playing for real money.
Our verdict
Fishin Frenzy has earned its classic status: the theme is charming, the rules take seconds to learn, and the fisherman free spins round is still one of the most satisfying bonus mechanics in slots. The 96% RTP is fair, the 5,000x max win is respectable, and the only real criticism is that the base game is plain by modern standards. If you like fishing slots — or want to see where the genre started — this is essential playing.
